Nigel and Mia are searching for a treasure chest under water. The straight line distance between them is 100 meters. Given the angles in the diagram, who is closer to the treasure chest and why? a) Nigel is closer because his distance to the chest is opposite the larger angle. b) Mia is closer because her distance to the chest is opposite the smaller angle. c) Nigel is closer because his distance from the chest is 100 meters. d) Mia is closer because her distance from the chest is 100 meters.

The answer is b) Mia is closer because her distance to the chest is opposite the smaller angle.

In the relationship of triangle sides and its angles, the shortest side will always be opposite to the smallest interior angle. Furthermore, the largest side will always be opposite to the largest interior angle. Since Mia's distance to the treasure chest is opposite to the smaller angle 65
°, then she is much closer to the chest.

QUESTION POSTED AT 30/03/2020 - 01:30 AM

Consider the vector v=(-7,8). What is the angle between v=(-7,8) and the positive x-axis? Part 1: Use the formula v1 x v2=|v1||v2|cos theta to find the cosine of the angle between the two vectors (-7,8) and (1,0).

(1) To find the angle between v and positive x-axis, we first determine the angle formed by v and the negative x-axis. Since v = (-7,8), its vertical measure y is 8 units and horizontal measure x is 7 units.

arctan(8/7) = 48.81°
Solving for angle between v and positive x-axis:
180° - 48.81° = 131.19°

(2) v1 x v2=|v1||v2|cosθ
Calculating for the dot product of the vector:
v1 x v2 = -7*1 + 8*0 = -7
Calculating vector magnitude:
|v1| = √(-7²+8²) = √113
|v2| = √(1²+0²) =1

cosθ = (v1 x v2) /|v1||v2| = -7/(√113 *1) = -0.659

Find the area and peri19.6 ft13 ftA

The area is 38 because whenever you have to find the area in an equation you always add up the total sides. The shape is a rectangle and the only numbers they give is 6 and 13 obviously the sides are equal so the opposite side of 13 is 13 and the opposite side of 6 is 6 because they're both a certain length. In total you add up all the sides 13 plus 13 is 26, 6 plus 6 is 12 , 26 plus 12 is 38

The perimeter is 78 because they only give you two number so whenever you do a perimeter in an equation you always have to remember to multiply. 13 multiplied by 6 is 78. Hope this helped ( :

ANSWER FAST PLZZZ Which polygons are congruent? Select each correct answer. Two right scalene triangles labeled D E F and P Q R. Corresponding sides and vertices contain one, two, and three tick marks, respectively. Angles E and Q are right angles. Two triangles labeled T U V and W X Y. Side T U is labeled three, side U V is labeled six and five-tenths, and side V T is labeled seven. Side W X is labeled three, side X Y is labeled six and five-tenths, and side Y W is labeled seven. Corresponding vertices contain one, two, and three tick marks, respectively. Two triangles labeled A B C and F G H. Angles A and F are labeled eighty-three degrees. Angle B is labeled forty-eight degrees, angle C is labeled forty-nine degrees, angle G is labeled forty-five degrees, and angle H is labeled fifty-two degrees. Sides B C and G H each contain one tick mark. two right triangles. one with legs 4 and 7 units. the other one with legs 5 and 8 units.

Two Triangles are Congruent by following Geometrical Axioms

1. SAS

2.SSS

3. AAS

4. ASA

1. In Δ DEF and Δ P QR

PQ=DE

∠DEF=∠PQR→→Each being 90°

EF=QR

Δ DEF ≅ Δ P QR→→[SAS Congruency]

2. As in Image 2, only one angle is common

we can't say that triangles are congruent.

3. In ΔT UV and Δ W X Y

WX=TU

UV=XY

TV=WY

∠TUV=∠WXY

∠UTV=∠XWY

ΔT UV ≅ΔW X Y→→[By SAS or AAS or SSS]

4.In ΔABC and ΔFGH

∠A=∠F=83°

we can't say that triangles are congruent,as neither the other two angles nor the other two sides are equal.

5. None of the sides nor of the angles are equal .So the triangles are not congruent.

→→So, Image 1, Image 3,  are congruent Polygons.

QUESTION POSTED AT 29/03/2020 - 04:33 PM

Compute and compare the side lengths of the two figures. Does this support an argument claiming that they are congruent? What else must be true to say two polygons are congruent?

The side lengths of the two figures can be calculated with the distance formula:

√ (x1 - x2)² + (y1 - y2)²

AB = √13

BC = √13

CD = √13

DA = √13

A'B' = √13

B'C' = √13

C'D' = √13

D'A' = √13

They are all the same lengths. This supports an argument claiming that they are congruent because if the sides are congruent, then the two polygons are congruent.

Something else that must be true to say that two polygons are congruent is that the angles have equal measures.

Hope this helps! :)

Given points A(4,5) and B(-4,11). Find the distance AB to the nearest tenth.

If A(x', y') & B(x",y") the the distance AB is given by the following formula:

AB =√[(x"-x')² + (y"-y')²]

Plug into the above with A(4,5) and B(-4,11).

AB =√[(-4-4)²+(11-5)²] =√(-8)²+(6)² = √(64) + (36) =√100 = 10

When you divide a whole number by a decimal less than 1, the quotient is greater than the whole number. Why?

Dividing is the action of slimming a number down to a smaller size. When you divide a whole number by a decimal less than 1 the quotient is greater than the whole number because the that is how many times the quotient is a part of the whole number. For instance, you divide 100 by 4, you will get a quotient of 25. There are 4 parts of 25 to be equal to 100.

I hope this helps you!

The lengths of three sides of a triangle are given. Determine whether each triangle is a right triangle. 1. 14 m, 5 m, 4 m 2. 3 in., 4 in., 5 in. Are these right triangles?

In a right triangle, the hypotenuse is always the longest side.  Plus, the hypotenuse squared has to equal the sum of the squares of the other 2 sides.  For the first "triangle" above: does ?  Let's check.  196 = 25 + 16 so does 196 = 41?  Obviously not.  So that is not a right triangle.  Let's check the second one the same way.  Does ?  25 = 9 + 16.  Does 25 = 25?  Of course it does!  So 1 is not a right triangle, but 2 is!
