In a market without price controls, market pressures push prices toward ____ 1.shortage prices 2.equilibrium prices 3.surplus prices_.

The correct answer is 2.

When markets are allowed to freely fluctuate, prices tend to the equilibrium, the quantities supplied and demanded are equal and the market is cleared.

If the supply of a certain good drops due to a natural disaster, for example, there is an excess of demand and therefore there is a subsequent price increase, so that many consumers refuse to demand such product at a more expensive price, and the price rise continues until demand and supply are equaled again forming a new equilbrium.

When price controls are established, natural market movements are distorted. There are two situations:

  • A price floor is the minimum price allowed for a good, which is established by an economic authority and which distorts the market when it is located above the equilibrium price, creating a situation of excess supply. The most famous price floor is the minimum wage in the labor market.
  • A price ceiling is the maximum price allowed for a good, which distorts the market when it is smaller than the equilibrum because it creates a situation of excess demand.

Though unemployment during the Great Depression was widespread, it was higher in some parts of the United States than in others. A geographer uses unemployment data points to make a map, while an economic historian arranges data about state-by-state unemployment levels into a table. What information might the geographer be able to convey more clearly than the economic historian? A. The relative sizes of the areas affected by each level of unemployment B. The years when unemployment was worst in each area C. The percentage of each state's population that was unemployed D. The level of unemployment in each state

The correct answer is A. The relative sizes of the areas affected by each level of unemployment

Explanation:

A geographer different from an economic historian focuses on understanding social phenomena in relation to places and other geographical features, instead of focusing on the economy. This implies, in the case of studying unemployment during the Great Depression, the economic historian will focus only in economic aspects while the geographer would try to understand the phenomenon based on places and due to this, the geographer uses a map and might be able to study the areas affected by unemployment different to the historian that only a chart. Thus, the information the geographer might convey more clearly is "the relative sizes of the areas affected by each level of unemployment".

What was the purpose of the Neutrality Acts Congress passed between 1935 and 1937?

The Neutrality Acts were passed by the United States Congress in the 1930s, in response to the growing turmoil in Europe and Asia that eventually led to World War II. They were spurred by the growth in isolationism and non-interventionism in the US following its costly involvement in World War I, and sought to ensure that the US would not become entangled again in foreign conflicts. The legacy of the Neutrality Acts is widely regarded as having been generally negative: they made no distinction between aggressor and victim, treating both equally as "belligerents"; and they limited the US government's ability to aid Britain and France against Nazi Germany. The acts were largely repealed in 1941, in the face of German submarine attacks on U.S. vessels and the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

Traditional Roman and Greek art forms Worship of the traditional Roman gods Unification of political and religious authority Rome as the most important cultural center

The correct answer is: Traditional Roman and Greek art forms.

At the end of the 4th century AC, the Roman Empire was going through a deep political and economic crisis. The emperor Theodosius decided to divide the empire in two blocks and distribute them among his two sons. These two portions were the Western Roman Empire, with its capital in Rome, and the Eastern Roman Empire, with its capital in Byzantium, later called Constantinople. The Western Empire was strongly under the influence of the Roman culture and Latin language, while the Eastern Empire was ruled by a Greek elite, it had a strong Greek culture and Greek language was very extended.

What both empires had in common was their traditional art forms and culture. The Roman and Greek civilization were very similar since Roman took many elements from the Greek culture in the fields of religion, philosophy, politics, art, and architecture. These Greek and Roman roots shared by both empires were joined with the Jewish-Christian culture when Christianity was adopted as the official Roman religion, giving place to the cultural basis of the European continent.

The correct answer is Very few retired Americans had a guaranteed income.

Millions of people lost their job or life savings thanks to factors like bank closures and the Stock Market Crash of 1929. This financial downfall resulted in many Americans losing their life savings or retirement funding. Roosevelt hoped to change this by developing the Social Security Administration, which would give compensation to elderly individuals in order to support their cost of living when they retired.

Match the stages of the Anglo-Boer War in chronological order. 1.First 2.Second 3.Third (The Boer Offensive, Guerilla Warfare, The British Response)

The Second Boer War was a conflict between the United Kingdom and the founders of the independent republics of the Orange Free State and the Republic of South Africa, in northeastern South Africa.

It began in 1899 with successful Boer attacks on British forces. Once past the initial period, the war mutated to a guerrilla warfare in which the Boers maintained the initiative but with no significant successes, until the year 1902 in which the British developed their counter-offensive by leaning on their better armament and more available men.

So, the chronological order of the Anglo-Boer war is the following:

3- The British Response
