NATO or North Atlantic Treaty Organisation was an alliance or we can say that intergovernmental alliance between the 29 North American and European States that implemented the North Atlantic Treaty on 4th April 1949. It works on the mutual consent within the countries so as to form a collective defense in response to any external attack. NATO headquarters is in Evere, Brussels, Belgium. The most recent country to join the organization was Montenegro who joined it on 5th June 2017.
The organization was quiet until the Korean War. The advent of the Korean War commenced the institution of NATO based on the integrated military structure that included the formation of (SHAPE) or Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe. During 1950, the chief post of NATO was named as Chief Civilian.
NATO held two sessions per year so as to interact directly with its current members so as to appoint permanent members and its ambassadors of respective states.
