Sometimes an economy cannot grow because of external factors, such as 1-lack of skilled labor. 2-poor infrastructure. 3-low domestic demand. 4-low demand for exports.

The correct answer is D.

When the demand for exports is low, it affects to the economy of a country because its producers are able to serve a smaller amount of consumers, as they only operate in national markets. In turn, lower demand means lower production levels and small GDP figures. Therefore, there is not economic growth.

The other three factors proposed do affect the growth posibilities of an economy, but all of them are internal factors.

Read this excerpt from The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, and then answer the question that follows. When Dorothy was left alone she began to feel hungry. So she went to the cupboard and cut herself some bread, which she spread with butter. She gave some to Toto, and taking a pail from the shelf she carried it down to the little brook and filled it with clear, sparkling water. Toto ran over to the trees and began to bark at the birds sitting there. Dorothy went to get him, and saw such delicious fruit hanging from the branches that she gathered some of it, finding it just what she wanted to help out her breakfast. Then she went back to the house, and having helped herself and Toto to a good drink of the cool, clear water, she set about making ready for the journey to the City of Emeralds. What point of view is used in the excerpt? A:first-person protagonist B:third-person omniscient C:second person D:first-person observer

B. third person omniscient

You know it is third person because "I" (first person) is not used and "you" (second person) is not used either. The names "Dorothy" and "Toto" are indicating third person. Now to determine it is third person omniscient, you have to figure out whether the narrator knows about the characters inner feelings. In the first line, we are told Dorothy is feeling hungry, meaning the narrator has access to her inner thoughts and feelings. You can't usually look at someone and know if they are feeling hungry or not. Therefore, the best answer is B.

QUESTION POSTED AT 27/02/2020 - 10:40 AM

"A dog is man's best friend." This popular quote expresses the way many people feel about dogs. Cats, birds, gerbils, and even goldfish can make excellent pets, but the ideal pet to have is a dog. First of all, dogs are affectionate and fun companions. They will cuddle up to their owners to be petted. These loving animals are always ready for a hug or pat on the head. If they get the chance, some will even give their human friends a sloppy, wet kiss! Most dogs are playful, too. They love to chase sticks and fetch balls. According to the Humane Society, thirty nine percent of U.S. households own at least one dog. So it is no secret that dogs provide hours of enthusiastic entertainment and companionship. Secondly, many dogs are protective of their owners. In addition to cuddling and fetching, dog lovers appreciate the protective nature of many canines. Many dogs bark to alert owners when someone comes to their home. A dog owner often feels safer just knowing he has a loyal dog willing to protect its family or alert them of danger. If barking becomes a problem, most dogs can be trained to limit annoying yapping. Lastly, one of the best features of dogs is that they are great exercise partners. Dogs love to go on walks. Responsible pet owners understand that dogs need plenty of exercise. Daily walks can keep dogs happy and healthy. Of course, dog lovers benefit from this fitness plan, too. Having an energetic partner is great motivation to get off the couch and get moving. What is the best conclusion for the essay? A) Simply stated dogs are ideal pets. They are loving, fun, protective, and energetic companions. Even though owning and caring for a pet can be a big responsibility, it is worth it. B) Dogs are difficult to care for. They can be costly, loud, and unruly. The best option for a pet is a quiet cat or a small hamster. C) Dogs make people feel safe by barking at intruders. They can also help owners find their homes if they get lost on walks. Eliminate D) If they get the chance, some will even give their human friends a sloppy, wet kiss! Most dogs are playful, too.

A) Simply stated dogs are ideal pets. They are loving, fun, protective, and energetic companions. Even though owning and caring for a pet can be a big responsibility, it is worth it. Is the correct answer

The fact that women often feel pressured to conform to society’s expectations is a common feminist theme found within literature. as this theme appears within part two of trifles, which pair of symbols most strengthens this theme? towel, table bird, birdcage breadbox, cats quilt, jar of fruit

The answer is a quilt and a jar of fruit. These symbols most strengthen the feminist theme.

EXPLANATION

"Trifles" is Susan Glaspell’s play which is a one-act play that was first performed on August 8, 1916. It was the Provincetown Players who played that act for the first time in the Wharf Theatre in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Susan Glaspell also took a role in this play as Mrs. Hale.

Trifles is frequently discussed in American literature textbooks. After Trifles, there was also another short play. It was some sort of sequel to Trifles, titled A Jury of Her Peers. The play was also written by Susan Glaspell, with the same plotline and also the same characters.

Trifles is often referred to as a feminist play. The plot of the play is including two women who protect another woman’s crime. This happens because the two women can sympathize with the criminal. They understand why the criminal might do the murder, which is because the criminal is being abused by her own husband. The criminal murders her own husband because of it.

Other than the theme of feminism, there is also a theme of justice within the play. The two women already knew that the wife kills her own husband. They choose to hide the evidence and let the woman not found guilty because they fully understand why she chooses to kill her husband.
