The area of the circle is 16*16*pi=256pi.  We can calculate 3/4 of the circle's area for the part not represented by the triangle and the shaded area, and then add in the triangle.  3/4 of the circle's area is 192pi.

The triangle is a right triangle with two legs of length 16.  Therefore, it's area is 16*16/2=128, and the total area is 192pi+128, or 731.2.

What is the slope-intercept form of the function that contains the point (–1, 5) and has a slope of –4?

Slope intercept form equation:

y=mx+C

----------------------

We already know that m=-4. Now, let's find the value of C.

--------------------

m=-4, and when x=-1, y=5.

(5)=(-4)*(-1)+C

5=4+C

5-4=4+C-4

1=C

-----------------

Therefore the slope intercept form of the function is:

y=-4x+1

Greta bought three 15-pounds bags of dry dog food.Her dog eats 10 ounces of dry dog food each day.After how many days will Greta need to buy more dog food?

Answer:  Greta needs to buy more dog food after 72 days.

Step-by-step explanation:  Given that Greta bought three 15-pounds bags of dry dog food and her dog eats 10 ounces of dry dog food each day.

We are to find the number of days after which Greta need to buy more dog food.

We know that

\textup{1 pound}=16~\textup{ounces}\\\\\Rightarrow \textup{3\times 15 pounds}=16\times3\times15=720~\textup{ounces}.

Let Greta needs to buy more dog food after x days.

Then, according to the given condition, we have

10\times x=720\\\\\Rightarrow 10=\dfrac{720}{10}\\\\\Rightarrow x=72.

Thus, Greta needs to buy more dog food after 72 days.

Answer:

Height to width   is 3:4

Width to height   is 4:3

Step-by-step explanation:

A TV screen is 15 inches high and 20 inches wide.

Height of TV screen is 15 inches

Width of TV screen is 20 inches

To find ratio of Height to width

we replace the numbers in the ratio Height : width

15: 20

Divide both numbers by 5, so ratio becomes

3: 4

Height to width   is 3:4

To find ratio of  Width to height

we replace the numbers in the ratio Width : height

On a test, 1 point is given for each correct answer and 1 point is deducted for each incorrect answer. On the test Harold answered 34 items correctly and 6 items incorrectly. What two numbers can be used to find Harold's total score

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but here goes:

On Harold's test, he scores 34 points for his correct answers, and -6 points for incorrect answers. He would have gotten 28 points, but that's not the question.

34 is the first number, and I believe the next one is -6.
6 is negative because 1 point is deducted for each incorrect answer, which also means 1 point is subtracted for every incorrect answer. Because the question is asking for numbers and not an equation or expression, the subtraction is expressed as a negative symbol, hence negative six.

Hope I helped!

After the price of petroleum oil went up by 10%, a consumer reduced his oil consumption by the same percent. By what percent would his petroleum bill be changed? THE ANSWER IS NOT 10%.

Let's assign some random values to it, and say 1 unit of petroleum costs 100 bitcoins, because we all know bitcoins are the best currency :P

If the price goes up by 10%, it is now 100*1.1 = 110bitcoins for 1 unit.

However he's only getting 0.9 units now, so multiplying 110 by 0.9 gives us 99 bitcoins. His petroleum bill used to be 100 (which is why I picked 100 as it's easier), and now it is 99. Therefore his petroleum bill has reduced by 1%

Pam says she will charge 125 plus 15 an hour to paint a house. Michelle will charge $50 plus $20 per hour to paint a house. After how many hours will their cost be the same

Let us assume the number of hours after which the cost of Pam and Michelle will be same = x
Now let us concentrate on the information's already given in the problem.
Fixed charge taken by Pam = $125
Charge per hour taken by Pam = $15
Fixed charge taken by Michelle = $50
Charge per hour taken by Michelle = $20
Then
125 + 15x = 50 + 20x
20x - 15x = 125 - 50
5x = 75
x = 75/5
  = 15
So after 15 hours the charge taken by Pam and Michelle will be the same. I hope the procedure for doing this type of problem is clear to you.

The coordinates of a point on a coordinate grid are (−1, 5). The point is reflected across the x-axis to obtain a new point. The coordinates of the reflected point are (4 points) (1, −5) (−1, 5) (1, 5) (−1, −5)

(-1,5) is in the third quadrant.

When you reflect it across the x-axis, the y-value will turn from positive 5 to negative 5.

Thus, when you reflect the point (-1,5) across the x-axis, you will get the point (-1,-5)

What is the solution to the equation? 4x - 26 - 3x = 16 - 20 (I got my answer as 22, and that was correct, but I had completely forgotten how I did it. Help please)

Question:  4x - 26 - 3x = 16 - 20

Answer and Explanation:-

First, we combine like terms.

4x - 3x = x

Now, rewrite the equation.

x - 26 = 16 - 20

16 - 20 = -4

x - 26 = -4

Apply the inverse operation.

x - 26 = -4
   +26    +26

x = 22

Final answer: x equals 22, so the solution is 22.
