For this question the answer is 2.5m (B)
You find this by: L=0.85m
W=0.4m

A rectangle had 4 sides (2 lengths and 2 widths)
So...
To find 1 length and 1 Width you do 0.85+0.4=1.25m
Now you want to find the other 2 sides (L and W)
You can do: the same method and add it to 1.25m OR...
You can do (I prefer this one): (0.85+0.4)x2=?
This is the same as 0.85+0.4=1.25
1.25x2=2.5m

### Find an equation that models a hyperbolic lens with a = 12 inches and foci that are 26 inches apart. Assume that the center of the hyperbola is the origin and the transverse axis is vertical.

The general form for a hyperbola with the center at the origin and a vertical transverse axis is:
y2/a2 - x2/b2 = 1

From the given:
a = 12

To get b, we use the given distance between the foci.Since it's 26,
c = 26/2 = 13

Using this defintion:
c2 = a2 + b2
b = sqrt(c2 - a2) = sqrt (13^2 - 12^2) = 5

The equation therefore is:
y2/13^2 - x2/5^2 = 1
or
y2/169 - x2/25 = 1

The basic definition of a perimeter is the boundary line of an object. For shapes and figures, this is basically the sum of the outermost sides that define the object. Since an octagon has eight sides, with each side measuring 12m, the perimeter can be obtained by multiplying 12 m by 8 sides, or in equation form:

P = 8(12)

Among the choices, this is letter B.

Option (c) 7.6 cm is the correct answer

Step-by-step explanation:

Three sides of a quadrilateral measure 2.5 cm, 1.8 cm, and 9 cm.

Perimeter of the quadrilateral  is 29.9 cm

Then we have to find the length of 4th side.

Since perimeter of any quadrilateral = sum of all four sides

so by using this formula

20.9 = 13.3 + x

x = 20.9 - 13.3

x = 7.6 cm

Option (c) 7.6 cm is the correct answer

The number of female students was half the number of male students. If the total number of people who went on the trip is 82, find the numbers of male students and female students.

In equation, let x be the number of male students
a be the number of adults
y be the number of female students.
x= 7a+1
a= x/7 -1
y= x/2 or (7a + 1)/ 2

a + b = 82, let b be the number of students.
a + (x + y) = 82
a + [7a+1 + (7a+1)/2] = 82
a + [{2(7a+1) + 7a+1} / 2] = 82
a + [(14a +2 + 7a +1) / 2] = 82
a + [(21a + 3) / 2] = 82
(2a+ 21a + 3) / 2 = 82
(23a + 3) / 2 = 82
23a + 3 = 164
23a = 164 -3
23a = 161
a = 7

x = 7(7) +1, 49+1 = 50 male students
y=x/2, 50/2, 25 female students

50(male students) + 25(female students)  + 7 (adults) = 82

### The outlier, 78, is removed from the data set shown. 23, 23, 25, 27, 34, 34, 35, 41, 45, 45, 78 How does this affect the range? A.) The range is decreased by 4. B.) The range is decreased by 16. C.) The range is decreased by 22. D.) The range is decreased by 33.

An outlier of a set of data is a data value that is too small or too large compared to other values in the set of data. Range of a set of data is the difference between the largest data value and the smallest data valu in the set of data. Range of 23, 23, 25, 27, 34, 34, 35, 41, 45, 45, 78 is 78 - 23 = 55 When the outlier 78 is removed, the range of the data set 23, 23, 25, 27, 34, 34, 35, 41, 45, 45 is 45 - 23 = 22 Thus, when the outlier 78 is removed, the range of the data set decreases by 55 - 22 = 33. Therefore, the correct answer to the question "The outlier, 78, is removed from the data set shown. 23, 23, 25, 27, 34, 34, 35, 41, 45, 45, 78 How does this affect the range?" is "The range is decreased by 33." The data in the table is not shown here but here is the formula for the residual
residual = observed value - predicted value

To get the predicted value, you simply use the best fit equation:
y = 2.78x - 4.4

Substituting 4:
y = 2.78(4) - 4.4
y = 6.72

This value is subtracted from the observed value to get the residual.
