### Nigel and Mia are searching for a treasure chest under water. The straight line distance between them is 100 meters. Given the angles in the diagram, who is closer to the treasure chest and why? a) Nigel is closer because his distance to the chest is opposite the larger angle. b) Mia is closer because her distance to the chest is opposite the smaller angle. c) Nigel is closer because his distance from the chest is 100 meters. d) Mia is closer because her distance from the chest is 100 meters.

The answer is b) Mia is closer because her distance to the chest is opposite the smaller angle.

In the relationship of triangle sides and its angles, the shortest side will always be opposite to the smallest interior angle. Furthermore, the largest side will always be opposite to the largest interior angle. Since Mia's distance to the treasure chest is opposite to the smaller angle 65
°, then she is much closer to the chest.

### Consider the vector v=(-7,8). What is the angle between v=(-7,8) and the positive x-axis? Part 1: Use the formula v1 x v2=|v1||v2|cos theta to find the cosine of the angle between the two vectors (-7,8) and (1,0).

(1) To find the angle between v and positive x-axis, we first determine the angle formed by v and the negative x-axis. Since v = (-7,8), its vertical measure y is 8 units and horizontal measure x is 7 units.

arctan(8/7) = 48.81°
Solving for angle between v and positive x-axis:
180° - 48.81° = 131.19°

(2) v1 x v2=|v1||v2|cosθ
Calculating for the dot product of the vector:
v1 x v2 = -7*1 + 8*0 = -7
Calculating vector magnitude:
|v1| = √(-7²+8²) = √113
|v2| = √(1²+0²) =1

cosθ = (v1 x v2) /|v1||v2| = -7/(√113 *1) = -0.659

### Find the area and peri19.6 ft13 ftA

The area is 38 because whenever you have to find the area in an equation you always add up the total sides. The shape is a rectangle and the only numbers they give is 6 and 13 obviously the sides are equal so the opposite side of 13 is 13 and the opposite side of 6 is 6 because they're both a certain length. In total you add up all the sides 13 plus 13 is 26, 6 plus 6 is 12 , 26 plus 12 is 38

The perimeter is 78 because they only give you two number so whenever you do a perimeter in an equation you always have to remember to multiply. 13 multiplied by 6 is 78. Hope this helped ( :

If A(x', y') & B(x",y") the the distance AB is given by the following formula:

AB =√[(x"-x')² + (y"-y')²]

Plug into the above with A(4,5) and B(-4,11).

AB =√[(-4-4)²+(11-5)²] =√(-8)²+(6)² = √(64) + (36) =√100 = 10

### Scarlett is trying to find the height of a dam. She stands 90 meters away from the dam and records the angle of elevation to the top of the dam to be 26º. Scarlett's height is 1.65 meters, so the height of the dam is meters.

Height of the dam is 45.45 meters.

Step-by-step explanation:

From the attached figure, AB is the height of dam NM is Scarlett's height. We have to find the height of the dam. NM = CB = 1.65 m

Using trigonometric equations as:

AC = 43.8 m

So, the height of the dam is AC + CB = 43.8 m + 1.65 m = 45.45 m

Hence, the height of the dam is 45.45 meter.
