Malene wrote the equation x² + 8x + 60 = x² + 12x + 20 to show that the area of a changed rectangle is 60 cm² greater than the area of the original rectangle. How did the rectangle change? 1 was added to each side. 2 was added to each side. 8 was added to each side. 10 was added to each side.

Answer:

2 was added to each side

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that a rectangle when changed sides, the area became 60 greater than the original

The equation given is

x^2 + 8x + 60 = x^2 + 12x + 20

From the above equation we can see that the original area wasx^2 + 8x

and it changed to

x^2 + 12x + 20

Original rectangle dimensions= factors of area terms = x , x+8

New rectangle dimensions = factors of x^2 + 12x + 20

=x+2, x+10

Thus we have both length and width increased by 2 units.

The answer is 10 was added to each side.

x² + 8x + 60 = x² + 12x + 20
____
Subtract x
² from both sides:

x² + 8x + 60 - x² = x² + 12x + 20 - x²
8x + 60 = 12x + 20
60 - 20 = 12x - 8x
40 = 4x
x = 40/4
x = 10

So, 10 was added to each side.

Since they are similar, and a side of 10 = a side of 4, the ratio would be 2.5 : 1. You would do 6 * 2.5, which would equal 15, and (15 + 2) / 2 = 8.5 or 17/2

Carina spent a total of $5.27 buying a pineapple for $3.40 and several pounds of tomatoes that were on sale for $0.85 per pound. To determine the number of pounds of tomatoes that she bought, x, Carina wrote and solved the equation as shown below

Answer:

2.2 pounds of tomatoes are bought

Step-by-step explanation:

Total amount spent = $5.27

Amount spent on buying pineapple = $3.40

Amount spent on buying tomatoes = total amount - amount of pineapple

= 5.27 - 3.40 = 1.87

Let x be the number of pounds of tomatoes bought

1 pound of tomato = $0.85

x pounds of tomato= 0.85x

0.85x = 1.87

Divide both sides by 0.85

x= 2.2

2.2 pounds of tomatoes are bought

SIMPLE Factoring by Groupingxa - xb - 2a + 2bJust looking for a model I could reference to for other problems like this. Please explain thoroughly! ヾ(@^∇^@)ノ

Group together the terms that have "like" variables or constants in them. The first 2 terms both have an x, but the second 2 don't, so the first two are grouped together. The second 2 terms, while they do not have a common variable, both have the number 2. So those are grouped together.
(xa - xb) - (2a + 2b)--> x(a-b) - 2(a-b). Now you can actually factor out the like term (a-b) to get this: (a-b)(x-2).

How can you use geometry figures to solve real-world problems?

I mean I can give you a pretty vague answer. Geometry is essential for building anything. If you want to build a house, how big do you want it? What area should each room have. If you want to build a fence around your house how big should the perimeter be? With anything we build, geometry places an important role.

Alejandra correctly wrote the equation y – 3 = (x – 10) to represent a line that her teacher sketched. The teacher then changed the line so it had a slope of 2, but still went through the same point. Which equation should Alejandra write to represent the new line? y – 6 = 2(x – 10) y – 2 = (x – 10) y – 3 = (x – 2) y – 3 = 2(x – 10)

Answer:

Option D is correct

y-3=2(x-10)

Step-by-step explanation:

Using point slope form:

The equation of line is given by:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)     .....[1] where m, is the slope and (x_1, y_1) is the point on the line

As per the statement:

Alejandra correctly wrote the equation y – 3 = (x – 10) to represent a line that her teacher sketched.

The line passes through the point i.,e (10, 3)

Since, the teacher then changed the line so it had a slope of 2, but still went through the same point.

⇒ slope(m) = 2

Substitute these in [1] we have;

y-3=2(x-10)

Therefore, an equation should Alejandra write to represent the new line is,

y-3=2(x-10)

Julian fully simplifies this polynomial and then writes it in standard form. 4x2y2 – 2y4 – 8xy3 + 9x3y + 6y4 – 2xy3 – 3x4 + x2y2 If Julian wrote the last term as –3x4, which must be the first term of his polynomial in standard form? 4y4 6y4 –2xy3 –10xy3

Trevor:  Be a sport and express exponentiation properly.  You must use the symbol       " ^ " for this purpose:

4x^2y^2 – 2y^4 – 8xy^3 + 9x3y + 6y^4 – 2xy^3 – 3x^4 + x2y^2

If Julian's last term is -3x^4, then the first term must be 6y^4.  Think about this and see whether you can detect a pattern.  The first term MUST contain "y" only and the last term MUST contain x only.

Ill give a tip please explain the steps Use this table as a reference for your interest rate percentages. Secured Unsecured Credit APR (%) APR (%) Excellent 4.80 5.25 Good 5.15 5.65 Average 5.85 6.20 Fair 7.00 7.65 Poor 8.20 9.15 8. You (or your parents) purchase a new car for $19,725.00 plus 4.75% sales tax. The down payment is $2,175.00 and you (or your parents) have an average credit rating. How much interest is accrued after the first month? (2 points) 9. You (or your parents) purchase a used car for $15,867.00 plus 5.25% sales tax. The down payment is 10% of the total cost and you (or your parents) have an excellent credit rating. What is your principal balance at the start of the loan? (2 points) 10. You (or your parents) are debating about whether to buy a new car for $19,072.00 or a used car for $15,635.00. Sales tax is 4.5%. You (or your parents) plan to make a down payment of $1,200.00 and your credit rating is fair. What is the difference in interest accrued by the end of the first month? (

Divide the APR by 360 days and multiply it by 30 days to get the monthly interest. Each loan is usually secured by the car you bought. So we will use the secured APR.

8. Average rating secured apr: 5.85% divide by 360 multiply by 30:  0.4875% monthly rate
Cost of car: 19,725 ; sales tax: 4.75% ; down payment: 2,175

19,725 x 1.0475 =  20,661.94 - 2,175 = 18,486.94 loan amount
18,486.94 x 0.4875% = 90.12 accrued interest for the 1st month.

9. Excellent rating secured apr: 4.80% divide by 360 multiply by 30: 0.40% monthly rate
Cost of car: 15,867 ; sales tax: 5.25% ; down payment: 10% of total cost

15,867 x 1.0525 =  16,700.02 x 90% = 15,030.02 the principal balance at the start of the loan.

10. Fair rating secured apr: 7% divide by 360 multiply by 30: 0.5833% monthly rate
Cost of new car: 19,072 ; sales tax: 4.5% ; down payment: 1,200
Cost of used car: 15,365; sales tax: 4.5% ; down payment: 1,200

19,072 x 1.045 = 19,930.24 - 1,200 = 18,730.24
18,730.24 x 0.5833% = 109.25 accrued interest

15,365 x 1.045 = 16,056.43 - 1,200 = 14,856.43
14,856.43 x 0.5833% = 86.66 accrued interest

109.25 - 86.66 = 22.59 is the difference in interest accrued by the end of the first month.
