Why was it important for no individual Allied Power to make peace with the Axis countries?

QUESTION POSTED AT 13/11/2019 - 05:22 PM

Answered by admin AT 13/11/2019 - 05:22 PM

France, Poland, and the British entered a defensive pact before the war began. For everyone else, to enter into an alliance with the Allies meant--for the most part--that they were entering into the war until hostilities against the Allies ended.

There was also a matter of differing ideologies. The fascists involved with the Axis powers were viewed as making war against capitalism (UK, US, France) and communism (USSR, China). There was a shared understanding that if the fascists were to win, free societies and communist societies alike would be at risk of extinction.

The best answer is A. clear style.

An informal style would not be appropriate in an informal essay. A powerful tone would potentially insult the readers and a subjective tone could confuse them as well.

Whay is one reason why Nigerians remain poor, despite their country's large oil deposits? Infrastructure, subsistence farming, corruption, microcredit

Infrastructure is the total of roads and organizational structures in the country, and it's not bad - if anything, a bad infrastructure could be bad.

subsidence farming would mean that the farmers farm for themselves: this wouldn't make them poor, but instead would give them food!

corruption is the reason: the profits are stolen by the officials!

microcredits are small credits for the poor, they're also generally good for the poor.

Why is rule of law very important to the democracy

A rule of law gives people security and assurance that the rules will be followed: this gives them an incentive to follow the rules rather than to rebel or use violence to achieve what they want.

So, if they know that the law will be followed, they will show their interest in voting rather than through (armed) conflict: and this is the basis for democracy.

What are the the countries that have limited and unlimited governments

Limited government has to adhere to law: it's not a dictatorship or absolute monarchy (or a similar system): example: Serbia, Hungary (despite the accusations), Slovenia

Unlimited government does not answer to anyone and "can do whatever it wants". Right now it's probably only North Korea, but pro forma some absolute monarchies (such as Brunei and Swaziland) also have unlimited governments ( in practice however, they still have to adhere to international laws).

Explain How did distribution of powers under the Articles make the national government dependent on the states?

The Articles of Confederation was a loose constitution among the states that gave the majority of the power to the states. Under the Articles, the country was not very unified, because each state seemingly had its own separate laws. This made the national government dependent on the states, because the states had more power than the federal government. The Articles eventually gave way to the Constitution, what we have now, which is a strong federal government to which the states defer.

When President Eisenhower referred to the "domino theory," he specifically had in mind one country which he thought would be the first to fall to communism in Asia. What was that country? A) Korea B) China C) Vietnam D) Soviet Union

Answer:

C) Vietnam

Explanation:

In the heat of the Cold War, on April 7, 1954, the then President of the United States, Dwight Eisenhower, exposed for the first time the so-called "Domino Effect Theory", which states that if any country fell under the influence of communism, surrounding countries would also fall as if they were a row of dominoes standing. The presentation was made in a speech at the Conference on Indochina in Geneva.

This theory was used by Washington to justify military interventions in various parts of the world. This belief would lead the United States to the Vietnam War.

Referring to communism in Indochina, Eisenhower said: "What is the beginning of the series of falling dominoes? You have a row of domino pieces standing. You drop the first piece and what happens to the last one in the queue? It will certainly fall very quickly. So if there is a beginning of democratic disintegration it will certainly have the deepest influence in the surrounding countries.

I don't see how this is an either-or situation.
I think that power struggle is possible to avoid, if both partners accept that they can't dominate the other. But I also think that this requires work and constant re-negotiation, so it's not "generally" that relationships are equal - but they can be.
